Our Worcester tankard is a very unique cup. Its name comes from the county town of Worcester (pronounced ‘Wurster’) in England. As well as being the origin of the famous sauce, Worcester has been a center for all sorts of artisan industries for nearly a thousand years, and was an early focus of the ‘arts and crafts’ movement. More recently it is the home of a popular beer festival, so it’s a very appropriate inspiration for one of our tankards!
The ripples in the highly reflective pewter bowl are reminiscent of moving water, and the elegant ‘scroll-handle’ offsets this perfectly, as well as being surprisingly comfortable for most hand sizes.
The bowl itself is pleasingly solid and, though certainly not indestructible, should outlast the first owner with care. Actually, in our opinion, this is one tankard where a few small scratches or dents gathered over many years of use really help to personalize the cup, making it if anything more attractive. (But if you don’t agree, a good polish using straight strokes, not circles, should remove most light scratches.)
