Our two (imperial) pint lidded tankard just feels enormous, and it’s great fun to drink from. It’s made from heavy grade pewter, so it’s very robust – you get a lot of pewter for your money with this tankard.
When you drink from a lidded tankard you connect with centuries-worth of tradition. There’s many explanations for why people started putting lids on their tankards, but we do know that it’s been common in England since at least the year 960AD, and in some of the German states from the 1500s (and probably much earlier too). Our best guess why is that your average medieval serf liked a gadget just as much as guys do today.
On the other hand, if this 38oz tankard is a bit too awesome for you, why not take a look at it’s little brother, our 19oz lidded tankard?
