Our double-lined ‘half-pint’ is the junior cousin to our double-lined one-pint tankard, and shares all of the same attributes. Other than the size, of course.
Nowadays half-pint tankards are popular both with lighter drinkers, and with those who like to sample beers in smaller doses. Imagine a flight with these! One warning though – the handle is definitely more comfortable for smaller hands.
The half-pint tankard also makes a cute pewter baby cup or child’s gift – obviously not for anything alcoholic, and we recommend not using pewter for very acidic fruit juices or for carbonated sodas, which can damage the finish. But it’s tough enough to withstand being dropped occasionally, totally lead-free (like all our pewter tankards), and quite suitable for their evening milk or water. With care this cup could even last long enough to be passed to the next generation or two.
My children both think the inside of a pewter tankard smells like butter. I’m not sure of that myself, but this is a very fine and versatile cup for all sorts of purposes.
