This is the glass-bottomed version of our Classic tankard. Legend has it that glass-bottomed tankards came into fashion in 18th century England, when the dreaded “Press gangs” would scour the pubs in any port city to draft men into the Navy to fight the French. According to the story a window in your tankard’s base would help you keep an eye on your surroundings and prevent any “King’s men” from sneaking up on you.
This tankard won’t help you avoid the draft today but it is a fun cup and gives you a much better view of the color of your beer than our other pewter styles.
This tankard is very good for fans of lots of beer styles but particularly for English, Scottish, and IPA style beers, or for mead.
Note that the capacity of this mug is just over 19 fluid ounces, so it’s a bit more than a standard US pint.
